Tourists mesmerised with folk culture at Surinsar

Jammu: Surinsar Mansar Development Authority on Sunday organised Folk festival to boost tourism.
Bhajan Sandhya dedicated to devotional songs was the highlight of the folk festival.

Local cultural group of Ram Ditta and party presented tourists with a range of devotional songs in praise of Mansar devta who is regarded as a incarnation of Sheshnag.

Rumalo Ram and party showcased the rich cultural heritage of dogra region.

The renidition of Geetru,Tappe, bhaakhs, bhajans, bhaints, fraati enthralled the audience.

The tourists were treated to an array of traditional folk songs and oral traditions.

"The department of tourism had made special arrangements for coverage and documentation of the performances as a part of it's effort to preserve local oral traditions and folk heritage," Nagendra Jamwal, CEO Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority here said.

He said that SMDA in collaboration with Department of Tourism has started the Sunday activity Series so as to offer varied experiences to the esteemed tourists who throng the pristine lake destination.

The Sunday activity would include trek to Mahoregarh fort and visits to Deer park in future, said the CEO.
