Srinagar, Oct 27: Governor Satya Pal Malik ordered an inquiry into the alleged maltreatment of the players of Jammu and Kashmir's under-16 cricket team by the state's cricket association while they were travelling from Srinagar to Amritsar.

According to media reports, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) had taken the team from Srinagar to Jammu-- en route to Amritsar-- in a bus and lodged them in a 3-star hotel there, while the board authorities themselves travelled by air and stayed in 5-star hotels.

Taking serious note of the reports, the Governor, while ordering an inquiry into the whole issue, directed the JKCA authorities to ensure the best possible facilities for the players, both within and outside the state, an official spokesman said.

Malik said not only JKCA, but all the sports authorities in the state should ensure that the local sportspersons are comfortably placed while participating in any sports event.
