ULB Polls: Training imparted to ROs & AROs

KATHUA: A training programme for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) was organized here today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Rohit Khajuria who is also the District Election Officer (DEO). The aim is to update them about the forthcoming Municipal Elections (ME).
District Level Master Trainers sensitized the participants about Model Code of Conduct, Nomination Process, Scrutiny of Nomination Forms, Withdrawal of Candidature and Allotment of Symbols.
Meanwhile, the DEO called upon the concerned officers to stay prepared well before the polls. He asked the Returning officers to perform their duties with utmost dedication and strictly adhere to the guidelines of ECI for smooth conduct of Municipal polls. He further informed that elections to the Urban Local Bodies shall be conducted through EVMs in 113 polling stations spread across 80 wards of 5 Municipal Committees and 1 Municipal Council of Kathua for which 25 ROs and 80 AROs have been appointed.
A power point presentation was given regarding scrutiny, filling up of nominations, rejection of nominations, qualification of nominations and completion of polling process till the conclusion of the declaration of the results.
Deputy District Election Officer, Chand Kishore impressed upon all the ROs & AROs to work in synergy and coordination to ensure free, fair and transparent upcoming Urban Local Bodies election. He also briefed them about the procedure to be adopted for the conduct of elections.
Election Naib Tehsidar besides all ROs and AROs participated in the training programme.
Among others, ADC Billawar, Joginder Singh Rai, ADC Basholi, Sanjay Gupta, PO IWMP, Sohan Lal were present during the meeting.
