ADC Leh convenes meeting with reps of pol parties

LEH: Deputy Commissioner Leh Mosis Kunzang today convened a meeting with the representatives of various political parties regarding forthcoming local body polls and made them aware about election rules and regulations.
The ADC sought cooperation of the representatives in the smooth, free and fair conduct of the elections. He also provided them with all relevant election documents and said that Municipal elections shall be held on party basis and those candidates who are not affiliated with any political party can also contest the elections.
It was given out that nomination papers can be filled for 13 wards of Leh Municipality till September 25 at the designated ROs at respective election headquarters.
Date of scrutiny of papers is fixed on September 26 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is September 28 and polling date is October 8. Counting of votes shall take place October 20, 2018.
