DDC distributes 186 appliances, aids among differently-abled children

BANDIPORA: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Bandipora, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today distributed 186 different aids and appliances and 53 eyeglasses among differently-abled school children, at a distribution cum fitment function, held at Mini Secretariat premises, here.
The function was organised by Education Department in collaboration with ALIMCO, Auxiliary Production Centre ( a Government of India undertaking) with an aim to provide different aids and appliances including hearing aids, sensory aids, walking aids and visual aids to the differently-abled school going children to enable them to work at par with other students.
Chief Education Officer Bandipora Munshi Javid, IE coordinator Syeed Sheba, representatives from ALIMCO, ZEOs, ZEPOs, concerned officers, parents and students participated in the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that specially-abled children are as good students as others, as such, deserve every possible support from the government as well as public level. He appreciated the organizers for holding such a distribution camp and urged for holding more camps to cover left out students, especially in rural and far-flung areas of the district; for which he assured full support from the district administration.
Earlier, Coordinator IE briefed about the activities of the department and informed that out of 186 appliances distributed here, include 6 tricycle, 25 wheelchair, 18 CP chair, 36 MSIED kit, 14 elbow crutch, 5 rolletor, 5 Braille kit, 20 smart cane, 14 daisy player, 3 smartphone and 40 hearing aid. It was also informed that MSIED kits are provided to mentally retarded children while as daisy player and smartphones are for blind students. Moreover 53 eyeglasses provided to students having weak eyesight.
