Yatri from Maharashtra dies during Amarnath pilgrimage, toll 19

Srinagar, Jul 12: A yatri from Maharashtra died due to cardiac arrest during pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, official sources said on Thursday.

They said a pilgrim identified as 52-year-old Samajeet Sarjha, resident of Maharashtra, suffered a cardiac arrest at Domail. Sarjha was immediately rushed to medical camp where he was declared brought dead.

With this, a total of 19 pilgrims have died due to health reasons and accidents since the commencement of the 60-day-long pilgrimage from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks from June 28.
