Div Com Jmu reviews land acquisition process for mega projects

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma yesterday chaired a meeting to review land acquisition for public projects in Jammu and Samba districts.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, DC Samba Sushma Chauhan (through Video conference), ACR Jammu, SDMs, and Collectors besides concerned officers.

The Div Com assessed the progress being made on land acquisition cases for projects including Ring Road, PMGSY, Seema Bhawan , Border fencing, Jammu – Akhnoor four lane project and many alike.

Stressing on close coordination among the concerned departments and the district administration, the Div Com asked for taking a realistic assessment of the issues related to land acquisition and disbursement of compensation to the owners. He directed for preparation of payment calendar with date of disbursement.

The Div Com asked the DC Jammu to monitor the disbursement of compensation for Jammu Ring Road on weekly basis and hold camps to motivate the people to cooperate in land acquisition process.

He set one month deadline for completion of mutations in Samba district and submit the report to his office. He further asked them to organize camps and hold special drives for the attestation of the remaining mutations.

The meeting also discussed issues regarding utility shifting on which the Div Com directed the concerned functionaries to prepare a specified report. He asked them to take up the shifting work as per Govt orders and prepare a protocol with timeline for uniformity.

The Div Com asked the DCs to prioritize the land compensation disbursement in Border areas.

Meanwhile, the Div Com asked the concerned officers to approach the NHA for construction of parks and sanitation units on vacant Govt land along the National Highway. He further instructed them to identify the vacant Govt land and utilize it purposefully and construct ponds and install hand pumps on Govt and common land in water stress areas.

While reviewing EOCs, the Div Com asked the DC Samba to publicize the helpline number and reach out to the people and create awareness at the grassroots level.

One Time Settlement cases for refugees were also reviewed during the meeting and the Div Com directed for settlement of cases in a fixed timeline.

Reviewing the pace work on Bunkers along the border, the Div Com stressed on construction of Public Health Centres adjacent to the community bunkers.

He further asked the officers to consider the cases of the people whose houses were damaged severely due to natural calamity, sympathetically.
