Market Checking Squad conducts visit, fine imposed against erring shopkeepers

KARGIL: On the directions of District Magistrate Kargil a market checking squad headed by the Assistant Director FCS&CA Kargil and Naib Tehsildar Kargil today conducted massive market checking from Baroo to Islamia School Chowk and other spots in Kargil town and adjoining areas.
During the inspection the team comprised of the officers from Health, Sheep Husbandry and Police Department seized a huge quantity of stale fruit, bakery, ice cream and other inedible food items which were destroyed on spot.
Moreover fine worth Rs 44000/= was imposed upon the shopkeepers on spot for violating the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and Essential Commodities Act.
