Jammu girl bags prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Award in Dubai

A girl from Jammu has not only made the state but the country proud by winning Dubai’s prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Award for her distinguished academic performance. Aaratrika Singh Jamwal, 11, studying in DPS Dubai has been rewarded with prestigious Award instituted by the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance.

The award was conferred to Ms Aaratrika for her outstanding achievements not only in the field of academics but also in extra-curricular activities. As per handout issued here, she has won a trophy for being an all rounder and also awarded a cash prize of Dirhams 30,000 (Rs 5.50 lakh). Ms Aaratrika, who is in her home town Jammu these days, desired to meet the first lady Usha Vohra and Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra.

‘’At such an early age, she is an extremely fluent and impressive public speaker, a karate champion, a budding artist and writer, a spirited swimmer, an inquisitive quizzer,’’ Aarartika's mother Vidushi Jamwal said. ‘’ Aaratrika also spends her time in community service; be it recycling campaigns, cans, newspaper, recyclable collection drives, awareness walk for children with special needs, under privileged, helping in orphanages, said Ms Jamwal. ‘’She strongly believes that nothing can substitute hard work, perseverance and dedication. She is also focused to scale greater heights and make the people of Jammu proud,’’ Aarartika's father Nitin Jamwal said.
