Civilian injured in firing incident in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Jun 20: A civilian was injured in a firing incident in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said. However, conflicting reports emerged about the firing incident as locals alleged that it was unprovoked firing by security forces, while officials said the civilian was injured in an encounter between security forces and militants at village Drabjam in Pulwama last night.

Sources said one Mohammad Altaf Zargar was injured when security forces opened fire at a vehicle at Firdousabad Drabjam last night. The injured has been hospitalised. However, officials said that the militants attacked a security force party.

The fire was retaliated and in the exchange of fire, the civilian was injured. Locals alleged that there was no militant firing or stone pelting in the area when security forces opened fire. However, locals alleged that government forces fired without any provocation.
