Woman commits suicide in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 29: A woman committed suicide by consuming poison in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, a police spokesperson said here.

They said the 55-year-old woman consumed some poisonous substance at her residence at Mattan in Anantnag. The woman was immediately taken to a local hospital, where she was declared brought dead.


It was not immediately clear why she took this extreme step, he said, adding police have registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstance, which forced her to commit suicide.
After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her relatives for last rites.
