Srinagar, Apr 25: Hitting out at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti over sprung-in protests by students during the last over a week, main opposition in the state National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah today alleged that the government is at war with the students and for the first time in almost 30 years, it isn’t confined to boys’ colleges alone. “@MehboobaMufti & her government are at war with college students & for the first time in almost 30 years it isn’t confined to boys’ colleges,” Mr Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of the state, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Mr Abdullah was reacting to students of Women’s college and Government Girls Higher Secondary Kothi Bagh actively 'participating' in the clashes with security forces during the last few days in the summer capital. The NC working president also retweeted a picture of a girl holding basketball in her hand and a brick in another could be seen kicking a police vehicle. Mr Abdullah captioned the picture, “The reality that is Kashmir - she has her basketball & a brick in the same hand while she kicks the truck.”

Despite ban on mobile internet, pictures and videos of girls students clashing with security forces on the streets of Srinagar have gone viral on social media. The protesting students are demanding action against the security forces, who entered Degree College Pulwama and allegedly thrashed students, including girls, on April 15.
