Govt committed to ensure sustainable development across JK: Priya Sethi

JAMMU, FEBUARY 26- Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta and Minster of State for Tourism Priya Sethi today took an extensive visit of Mahamaya temple, adjoining sites and reviewed the progress on implementation of Tourism Development Plan being executed in the area.
During the visit, the Speaker and the Minter took stock of the arrangements made available for the religious tourist as well as the prospective plan for the recreational tourist activities being planned for the area. They reviewed the progress on the prestigious Cable Car Project, allied works besides focused development to bring this ancient holy temple firmly on the religious tourist circuit of Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker laid stress on ensuring that the religious tourist that come to this holy site for pilgrimage are provided necessary facilities for their successful visit. He directed the concerned officials to undertake all necessary renovation, repair on various basic necessities including construction of Langer Shed for pilgrims, up-gradation/construction of toilet complex, repair work on the approach road, regular drinking water supply.
Laying focus on ensuring an eco-friendly, sustainable approach towards development of the area, the Speaker said that “to preserve our environment and eco-system, we have to make constructive efforts at individual and community level.” He urged the concerned department to dissuade the use of plastic and other non-biodegradable product in the area and for development of proper solid waste management plan on scientific basis to ensure minimum negative human impact on the ecology of the area.
Minister of State for Tourism, Priya Sethi said that the Government is committed to ensure sustainable development of all tourist spots in the state. She said that concrete and innovative measures have been planned and will be systematically executed to preserve and promote the ecological and religious importance of this holy place.
She said that dedicated parking will be developed for the area near the highway and easy commute will be available for the visitors in the form of eco-friendly e-rickshaws. Besides she said that the floriculture department has been directed to undertake heavy beautification drive in the area. Senior political leader, Yudhvir Sethi, among other senior officials of various departments accompanied the dignitaries during the visit.
