Ganga inaugurates Agriculture awareness camp

SAMBA, JANUARY 22: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today inaugurated a one day awareness programme under National Food Safety Mission-Wheat at Panchayat Kartholi, Sub-Division Dansal.
Pertinently, Samba, Jammu Kathua and Udhampur districts of Jammu division have been selected for implementation of NFSM-wheat.
During the programme, the farmers were informed about interventions and pattern of assistance under NFSM-Wheat and were impressed upon to utilize the opportunity to the optimum to further boost their business.
Meanwhile, weedicides, insecticides and fungicides were distributed among the farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasized focus on developing sustainable agriculture practices as it is closely linked to Food security. He said that research works should be planned, keeping in mind the current climate change pattern and its effects on agriculture. He also called for forging partnerships with the farm universities of adjoining states for the sustainability of agriculture. He strongly stressed on increasing efficient use of resources for enhanced productivity and farm income.
The camp was attended by around 100 farmers who appreciated the initiative of the department besides District Officer Arun Makhnotra, SDAO Subash Chander, Zonal Officer M.P Singh, JAEO’s and VAEO’s.
