Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Zahoor Ahmed Mir, in replay to a question by Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar today informed the House that presently genetic upgradation of livestock and veterinary health cover is being provided in 12 Centers of Animal/Sheep Husbandry in Marh constituency.
Regarding the steps taken for production of high breed species in Marh block, the Minister stated that as per the State Breeding Programme, the genetic upgradation of local non-descript bovines is done with the use of Frozen Semen Technology (Artificial Insemination).
"Use of bulls for natural service is also being done in remote, inaccessible and far-flung areas where the extension of Frozen Semen Technology is not possible" the Minister informed. He added that Frozen Semen Technology and Artificial Insemination is being used to upgrade the local bovine population using Holstein Frisian germ- plasma. In addition, three buffalo bulls are available for service to upgrade the local buffalo population in the Marh constituency, added the Minister.
In response to other question, the Minister said at present there is no proposal for opening of new Veterinary/Livestock Centers in the State. "However, as and when such process is taken up the Marh Block will also be considered as per feasibility and norms," the Minister assured.
