7-day NSS Special Winter Camp concludes at GDC Kathua

KATHUA : The 7-days special camp, organized by the NSS units of Government Degree College, Kathua concluded with the valedictory function organized at adopted village Nihalpur, on Tuesday. The volunteers of the units presented a colorful cultural programme during the valedictory function, making the audience to applaud. Ch. Lal Singh, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology graced the occasion as chief guest, whereas Principal Dr Netar Singh graced the occasion as guest of honor.
Both the guests inaugurated the function with traditional lighting of lamp. Dr. Netar Singh, in his formal speech, appreciated the role of NSS volunteers for awaking the common mass about various social evils and inculcating the idea of social service and national thinking by organizing various activities throughout the Seven Days Special camp. Dr Netar Singh said that integration is the need of hour and there is no other organization, which is boosting this. Throwing light on the seven days activities NSS Programme Officer Shikha Bhagat said that during this seven-day camp nearly one hundred fifty volunteers' performed different constructive things. She said that cleanliness drive in adopted village Nihalpur, socio-economic survey of village, guest lectures, Yoga camp, patriotic group song competition, solo song competition, symposium on the topic 'Uses and Abuses of Social networking' and Poster making competition remains the main attractive activities of the seven-days camp. In between, the volunteers of the camp presented a colorful cultural programme, representing their talent. After distributing prizes to the winners of the different competitions performed during the camp. The chief guest laid emphasis on developing positive thinking among students as the same is missing in the present scenario of the society. "Constructive thinking develops character and personality of the students, and organizing of such programs means inculcating the idea of sense of duty and responsibility towards nation," he added.
Appreciating the talent of the volunteers, he further said that such type of activities not only realizes the students of their duties however, help in building the personality and confidence. The proceeding of the programme was carried by Talab and Abhimanyu. District administration officers including DFO, BDO and other related officers were present in the function.Mean while Numberdar, Sarpanch, Panches and large number of villagers were also present on the occasion. Among the senior faculty members Prof. Sumnesh, Prof. Shub, Dr. Suram Singh, Dr. Ram Singh and Dr. Arun Dev Singh were also present in the function. The programme was organized under the guidance of N.S.S. Programme Officer Dr. Naresh Sharma, Prof. Rajesh Chalotra and Prof. Shikha.
