ASB, admin to float tenders soon for offering services to Amarnath devotees

20 DySPs deputed to SASB for deployment as deputy camp directors

Jammu: To offer various top-of-the-line services and facilities for the convenience of pilgrims undertaking the upcoming Amarnath yatra in June, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board(SASB) and UT administration is likely to float tenders for the same shortly. However, the process of evaluating the biddings and allocation will be held after the ongoing election process gets over.
The 52-day-long yatra will commence on June 29 and conclude on August 19, while the advance registration for the annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high Amarnath shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas has commenced April 15. The annual yatra takes place from the twin tracks -- the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the 14-km shorter but steep Baltal route in Ganderbal district.
To make the pilgrimage smooth and haste free, various facilities including tents, horses, palanquins are provided by the private sector. Allotment of these services is done on the basis of tender process only.
The Model Code of Conduct is in force as the process of general Lok Sabha elections is underway. Due to this, tenders cannot be issued. The concerned administration had sought some relaxation from the State Elections Commission for making preparations for the pilgrimage, as only few days shall be left after the conclusion of the election process in the first week of June.
The Election Officer of Jammu and Kashmir had also brought this issue to the notice of the Election Commission of India and requested for guidance.
The Election Commission of India has informed the Returning Officer of Jammu and Kashmir that there is no objection from the point of view of Model Code of Conduct regarding tenders and evaluation of tenders in connection with the arrangements for Shri Amarnath Ji's Yatra-2024, provided that the Union Territory finalize the process after the completion of voting in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, 20 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) have deputed Amarnath as deputy camp directors.
Jammu and Kashmir Home Department deputed 20 Deputy Superintendents of Police to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), on short term basis, for being deployed as Deputy Camp Directors at various camps enroute Amarnath Yatra.TheDySPs included- Zafar Mandi, Surinder Paul Singh, Satvir Singh, Khudmukhtar Dev, Vinod Kumar, Vishal Manhas, Rishi Singh, Sajad Hussain, Updesh Kumar, Daljit Singh, Kirpal Singh, Faraz Hussain Shah, Latief Ahmad Khan, Mukhtar Ahmad, Arun Kumar, Gurpurab Singh, Sajad Ahmad Parray, Mohd Yousuf, Mohinder Pal and Arvinder Kumar.
As per order the Controlling Officer shall relieve the above mentioned officers enabling them to report to the office of the Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, as and when conveyed by the Board; The exact deployment of the officers shall be made by Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board; and
These officers shall continue to draw their salary from their respective place of posting during the period of deputation to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and shall revert to their respective place of posting, immediately after the conclusion of the Yatra-2024, reads order.
