Rajput solidarity-anti incumbency combine worrying factors for BJP…!!

Jammu: Even as BJP is branding Article 370 abrogation as the turning point for pushing development projects across UT and throwing all its ‘starrer’ might in the ongoing campaign for Udhampur-Kathua seat, not much seems to work this time. The scene during the last few days in various segments shows Lal Singh led Congress is all prevalent by far more ways than just the huge crowds in rallies.
With less than few hours for campaign to end on this prestigious constituency for BJP, worst fears of a section of leaders in the J&K unit of party appear coming true that party may not show up desired performance this time. While anti-incumbency factor is at its all time high, there are other reasons which are giving worries to BJP, sources said confirming leaders have sensed ‘danger’.
While Choudhary Lal Singh’s name is synonymous with any high energy politician whose charisma can drive the party, this has actually happened with Congress which is seen in zeal and vigor with star campaigners witnessing huge numbers of people gathering with great enthusiasm, far more than in BJP rallies at some places. PM Modi and HM Amit did try to raise pitch in favour of party candidate, but their magical spell doesn’t seem to be working much, confide the insiders in the party. Anti incumbency on this constituency remained the main factor which even impacted the J&K unit of party so much that leaders and cadres were found least enthusiastic to attend the big rallies.
While Congress and Lal Singh were seen predominantly active and energetic, what gave fillip to his momentum is the caste factor(Rajput community solidarity) across various segments, sources within the party said admitting this will hugely impact the scene on ground.
Rajputs living across all the four districts in this constituency and even in Jammu segments for many years were feeling a sort of identity crisis but Lal Singh’s comeback on the poll scene has filled the political vacuum community felt, sources explained as to how Congress is aggressively reaping on this ‘solidarity’ factor and working hard to push its benefits on Jammu seat as well. Congress unit, to sum up the working is in far more active mode than BJP which is only relying on Modi and development factor. “Lal Singh ka touapnakamaal aur mehnatdikhrahihailekin party iskapoorafaydauthanay main poorazorlagarahihai(Lal Singh undeniably has his own charisma but party is also not sitting back…)” said a senior leader adding that he’s giving a tough fight to rival in true sense of the word. Ongoing protests by the community in some parts of the country against the government are also adding flavor to the solidarity factor here in Jammu region.
