3 days drive for distribution of sanitary kits under BBBP concludes at Rajouri

900 Sanitary napkins, 900 antiseptic soaps distributed among the adolescent girls and under privilege women


RAJOURI, MAY 20: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh and under the supervision of DSEO and Nodal officer of MSK Rajouri, Bilal Rashid Mir. DLCW headed by Anum Mirza (Women Welfare Officer, Rajouri) has taken an initiative to provide door to door sanitary products, antiseptic soaps and other hygiene items especially among needy ones in remote areas of the district during the lockdown.
Due to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown have left several without basic essentials, particularly in rural areas. Access to one such essential commodity is sanitary pads which have been hit hard due to the national lockdown.
MSK team comprising, district Co-ordinators Sanjana Thakur and Nazma Sheikh ensured that they provide appropriate knowledge to girls and women regarding menstrual hygiene and urged females not to use unhygienic cloth and other alternatives, as it is causing many reproductive health issues.
MSK team in their 3-day long drive has distributed 900 sanitary napkins and 900 antiseptic soaps in various areas (Aiti, Fatehpur, Muradpur, Chingus, Kallar, Narayan) of district Rajouri under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign for better health of adolescent girls and women.
Further Anum Mirza (WWO) said that "menstrual hygiene is a major health issue affecting girls and women of reproductive age. Menstrual hygiene is vital for the empowerment and well being of girls and women". She also said that the MSK team from the very first day of their job working for the empowerment of women and will continue to do that in the future as well.
