Director ULB visits MC Pattan, reviews preparatory-cum-sanitation measures

BARAMULLA, APRIL 08: In a bid to renew efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 through sanitation and other related measures, Director Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, Reyaz Ahmad Wani, today visited Municipal Committee Pattan and inspected adjacent areas to review the status of activities undertaken by the committee for the containment of the spread of Corona virus. The Director also took stock of preparedness of the Committee in mitigating the impact of the disease.
During the visit, the Director held a threadbare discussion with the concerned authorities wherein he directed them to gear up the efforts and preventive measures through massive sanitation of the area, fumigation of the important public places including the hospitals, quarantine centers and adjacent habitations. He exhorted the sanitation workers to wear protective gears while performing their duties and directed the Executive Officer to take immediate steps for providing proper health insurance cover to all sanitation workers.
The Director expressed satisfaction over the role being played by the frontline workers of sanitation, elected members and administrative workers in combating Covid-19. He asked the concerned to launch a door to door campaign to aware people about the importance of personal and public hygiene in containing the deadly Corona virus. He also appealed people to adhere to the lockdown and maintain social distancing for their safety.
Meanwhile, various issues regarding the smooth functioning of the MC were raised on the occasion. The Director assured the MC authorities that all their issues will be redressed soon.
