Ramban: DLEC discusses Environment conservation plan

RAMBAN, FEBRUARY 28: District Level Environment Committee (DLEC) today discussed Environment conservation plan here at meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Nazim Zai Khan.
Issues pertaining to the conservation and management of environment, besides role of different departments in the execution of District Environment Plan were discussed threadbare.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haseeb-Ur-Rehman; Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Nawab Din; Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Ashok Sharma; ASP Sanjay Parihar, besides DFOs, CMO, Project Officer- ICDS, General Managaer, DIC, SDMs, District Officer, JKPCB, DPO, BDOs, EO of MCs and others concerned officers.
The DC said that the plan aimed at improving overall parameters of environment in the district, includes widespread plantation initiatives, measures to curb use of plastic/ polythene, improving the disposal of solid waste and hospital waste, community participation and mass awareness, strengthening of NGOs working for environment conservation, soil and moisture conservation, water conservation, measures aimed at curbing air and water pollution.
The Executive Officers of Batote, Banihal and Ramban MCs were asked to formulate DPRs for the construction of Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP) and drainage system plan for their respective municipalities.
Rural Development Department was directed to declare mandatory for people to seek permission from concerned BDO before starting construction works in rural areas to keep check on environment pollution.
After threadbare discussion on crucial issues, the members of committee were asked to go through the National Green Tribunal Guidelines and ensure their adherence in letter and spirit.
Executive Officers of Municipal Committees were asked to take concrete steps for segregation of waste and for its safe disposal by the Pollution Control Board.
District Officer JKPCB apprised the meeting about status of Air, Noise pollution and E-waste, Bio waste, solid waste and liquid waste management in the district.
