DDC Rajouri reviews implementation of SWM Rules 2016

RAJOURI, JANUARY 28: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today convened a meeting with the Tehsildar and Executive Officers of MCs regarding implementation of solid waste management rules in the district and to iron out various issues regarding establishment of solid waste management plants at different places in the district.
Tehsildar Rajouri Sheraz Chowhan, Tehsildar Thanamandi Anjum Ahmed, Tehsildar Kalakote Abdul Qayoom, Tehsildar Sunderbani Jitender Singh, EO Municipality Rajouri, EO Municipality Sunderbani, EO Municipality Kalakote Manzoor Ahmed Lone besides concerned officer from pollution control board attended the meeting.
Regarding availability of land for the construction of solid liquid waste management plant, the EO Municipality Kalakote informed that 40 kanal of land has been identified at village Chainpur for the establishment of plant. Tehsildar Rajouri highlighted that 51 kanal and 08 marla of land has been identified for the establishment of the project at Kotedhera. He also informed that revenue papers of the land are complete.
Tehsildar Sunderbani informed that the project for the segregation of municipal waste is properly functional on 63 kanals and 07 Marlas of land. He added that 02 more kanals of land is required for the fencing of the solid waste management project.
DDC said that the segregation of solid waste is very important to reduce its harmful effects on health and environment. He asked the concerned officers from Municipalities to distribute dustbins to all households so that the waste generated on a daily basis can be disposed off in a hassle free and effective manner. He directed the concerned Tehsildars from Nowshera and Thanamandi to identify land for the establishment of the solid waste management projects as soon as possible so that work these projects can be started within shortest possible time.
