‘Bal Sahitya Purskar’ presented to Naji Manawar at Shopian

SHOPIAN, JANUARY 23:Prestigious children’s literature award of National Academy of letters, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi (Bal Sahitya Purskar of 2019) was presented to noted Kashmiri poet, writer and historian, Naji Manawar at his native place Shopian today.
The award was presented to Naji by Dr. Aziz Hajini, Convener Northern Regional Board Sahitya Academy, New Delhi and Choudhary Mohammed Yasin, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shopian in the conference hall of DC office.
A galaxy of writers and literary persons including Ghulam Nabi Aatish, Shahzada Rafiq, Rashid Sarshar and Yousuf Jehangir and others were present on the occasion.
A special function was organized at Shopian to felicitate the author at his native place as due to ill health, he could not travel to Chennai where he was supposed to receive the award on 14th November (Children’s Day) 2019.The award comprises of cash award of 50,000 rupees, a memento, a shawl and a citation.
Congratulating the author, Dr.Hajini highlighted his contribution in the developing Kashmiri language and literature.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC, Shopian highlighted the role of poets and writers in shaping a value based society. He also congratulated NajiManawar for the award.
A Kashmiri Mushiara was organized by District Administration in which Reyaz Anznoo, Reyaz Khaki, Shahzada Rafiq and Rashid Sarshar recited their latest poems, on the occasion.
