Market checking: Erring traders fined in Baramulla

BARAMULLA, JANUARY 21: Acting upon the directions of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, the market checking team headed by Assistant Commissioner Baramulla Mohammad Rafiq Lone inspected various markets of Baramulla town.
The market checking team was representing the departments of Revenue, Weights & Measures, Municipal Committee, FCS&CA, Legal Metrology and Police departments.
During inspection, the team imposed a fine of Rs 8700 from erring shopkeepers under various provisions of Weights and measures and Food Safety Standards Act-2006. The team destroyed 48 Kg of rotten vegetables, 40 Bags of substandard flour and seized 23 Kg of polythene from erring shopkeepers.
The ACR asked the shopkeepers and traders to abide by the provisions of Food Safety Standards Act-2006 and sought cooperation from the people to curb such violations.
