Srinagar, April 6: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated its 47th Foundation Day with enthusiasm across the Kashmir Valley, including a flag-hoisting ceremony in Srinagar attended by party leaders and workers.
On the occasion, Altaf Thakur, spokesperson for the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, said that the party has grown into one of the largest political organizations in the country as well as in the Union Territory. He noted that the BJP was established on April 6, 1980, and has continued to expand its reach through its ideology and dedicated cadre base.
Thakur highlighted that the party was founded on five core principles that guide its policies and functioning: nationalism and national unity, democracy, positive secularism, Gandhian socialism, and value-based politics. He said these principles remain central to the party’s vision and governance approach.
He also reiterated the party’s guiding policy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” describing it as a commitment to inclusive growth and equal opportunities for all sections of society.
Expressing confidence about the party’s future in the region, Thakur said the BJP is steadily strengthening its presence in Kashmir and working to connect with people at the grassroots level. He added that the party leadership is hopeful that the lotus symbol of the BJP will soon gain wider support in Kashmir.
