AUG 9: With gunfight intensifying to the utmost extent, two soldiers have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on the ninth day of anti-terror operation underway in Akhal Devsar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Chinar Corps of Indian Army paid last respect to Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, who laid down their lives in the ongoing encounter.
Chinar Corps posted on X, “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts, L/Nk Pritpal Singh and Sep Harminder Singh, in line of duty for the Nation. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families. Operation continues.”
As of now, two terrorists have been neutralized in Kulgam encounter.
With real-time monitoring system, advanced drones, the gunfight is in progress in Kulgam to hunt down the hiding terrorists. J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat had visited the encounter site in Kulgam yesterday.
The fierce encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam district last week on Friday.
A cordon and search operation was launched in the area following the tip-off about the presence of ultras. Encounter kicked off after hiding terrorists fired upon security forces which was retaliated, strongly.
Pertinently, ‘Operation Akhal’ is the longest anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir of year 2025.
