Jammu: Under the ongoing drive against drug menace and in line with the directions and supervision of SSP Ramban, Ramban Police achieved a significant breakthrough with the recovery of heroin-like substance (Chitta) at T-Chowk Banihal.
During a routine Patrolling and traffic regulation duty at T-Chowk Banihal two suspicious pedestrian approaching from Railway Chowk to T- Chowk Banihal attempted to flee upon noticing the police party.
The alert officers promptly chased and apprehended both the individuals after a brief pursuit.
The individuals were identified as Umar Jaan son of Khazar Mohd Mir resident of Bimna, Srinagar and Arif Iqbal son of Mohd Iqbal resident of Shangus Chani,Anantnag.
Upon personal search, 5.67 gms and 3.95 gms of heroin-like substance (Chitta) respectively was recovered from their possessions.
Accordingly, a Case under *FIR No. 84/2025* under sections *8/21/22 of the NDPS Act* has been registered at *Police Station Banihal*. Investigation into the case is currently underway to prove backward and forward linkages.
The District Police Ramban reiterates its commitment to rooting out drug abuse and urges citizens to support the fight by reporting any suspicious activities in their areas.
