OCT 2: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affair Javed Ahmed Rana on Thursday underscored the significance of inclusive efforts to preserve and promote tribal values, which reflect the identity of communities in Pir Panjal region.
In his keynote address during the vibrant Tribal Fair in Mendhar, Minister Javed Rana stressed upon that the Tribal Development must not come at the expense of degradation of culture.
Besides, Minister Javed Rana made a strong pitch for integrated approach that yields progress with tradition keeping a check on the modernity that could supress the deep-rooted tribal values which could eventually affect the community growth.
The fair was organised by Tribal Affairs Department in collaboration with the local District Administration in Mendhar, Poonch, and witnessed significant participation from the locals.
The Mela provided a podium to showcase the rich cultural heritage of tribals and featured tribal food. Stalls were installed to display various Government schemes to generate cognizance about educational opportunities and livelihood support programs.
A free medical camp was also organized and several people were witnessed reaping benefits.
The event witnessed the participation of several prominent dignitaries, including Chairperson, DDC Poonch, Tazeem Akhtar and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma.
The Minister Javed Rana reiterated determination of Omar Abdullah-led NC Government’s to fostering a development that is inclusive, holistic, respectful of tribal traditions and building self-reliant tribal society.
