Jammu, May 20: Security agencies recovered a suspicious packet believed to contain narcotics from a village close to the international border in Jammu district on Wednesday, officials said.
According to sources, the packet was found in Bahadurpur village of the Bishnah sector after a farmer noticed it while working in his agricultural field.
Soon after the information was reported, teams from the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police rushed to the spot and secured the area.
Officials said the seized packet is suspected to contain heroin. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been asked to examine the material for confirmation.
Authorities are investigating the possibility that the packet may have been dropped using a drone from across the border. More details are expected.
