Gurez, May 6: Security forces on Tuesday recovered and safely destroyed a suspected explosive device in the Baduab area of Tulail in north Kashmir’s Gurez Valley near the Line of Control, officials said.
The shell-like object was spotted near a local police post, prompting a swift response from the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, who rushed to the scene and sealed off the area.
Officials said movement in the vicinity was restricted as a precaution, while standard safety measures were implemented. A bomb disposal squad later carried out a controlled operation to neutralise the object.
“No loss of life or damage to property was reported,” officials said, adding that investigations are underway to determine the origin and nature of the device.
Authorities have urged residents to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious items, advising them not to approach or handle unknown objects.
