Jammu: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Saturday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed the security situation, developmental initiatives and political developments in the Union Territory.
During the meeting, Sharma apprised the Home Minister of various issues and concerns emerging from the ground and highlighted people’s aspirations for peace, development and effective governance.
The two leaders reviewed the prevailing security and law-and-order situation in Jammu and Kashmir, ongoing development works and the overall political landscape. Discussions also focused on efforts to strengthen security, promote inclusive growth and further empower democratic institutions at the grassroots level.
Both leaders emphasized the need to consolidate the gains achieved in recent years and ensure that the benefits of development reach every section of society.
Shah assured Sharma that the Government of India remains committed to maintaining peace, strengthening security and accelerating development in Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated continued support for the Union Territory’s overall progress and prosperity.
Sharma reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the people and working for peace, prosperity and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting reflected continued engagement between the BJP leadership and the Centre on key issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir, including security, governance and development.
