JAMMU: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday reiterated that strengthening emergency healthcare access, particularly in underserved and remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, remains a top priority of his government as he flagged off ambulances and medical equipment under a major CSR initiative and chaired a series of public, administrative and developmental engagements at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu.
The Chief Minister flagged off seven ambulances along with critical healthcare equipment provided by the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The total value of ambulances and equipment stands at ₹144.73 lakh. In addition, JKSPDC has provided seven TruNat machines worth ₹58.80 lakh and two handheld X-ray machines costing ₹35.96 lakh to strengthen diagnostic facilities across districts.
Further strengthening specialised care, essential medical equipment and medicines worth ₹29.09 lakh were provided for the Thalassemia Day Care Centre at SMGS Hospital, Jammu. Support was also extended to Child Care Institutions at Palaash/Parisha/SAA Udhampur with supplies worth ₹3.11 lakh, while the Blind School, Roop Nagar, Jammu received Braille learning materials worth ₹2.90 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that timely medical response can be life-saving and such initiatives significantly bridge healthcare gaps in far-flung areas.
He appreciated JKSPDC for extending its CSR support to critical sectors and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
On the same day, the Chief Minister also unveiled the January–March 2026 edition of the Tourism Department’s magazine ‘Six Seasons – Shishur (Severe Cold)’ at the Civil Secretariat.
The edition highlights Jammu and Kashmir’s winter tourism potential, curated travel stories, international events, and promotional outreach activities undertaken by the department.
He lauded the publication, stating that such initiatives play a vital role in showcasing the Union Territory’s tourism potential at the global level.
In another engagement, the Chief Minister congratulated students on the declaration of the Class 10 results of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) for the Summer Zone. The examination recorded an overall pass percentage of 88.85 percent, with girls outperforming boys by securing 90.42 percent compared to 87.51 percent. He encouraged successful students and advised those who could not clear the examination to remain focused and work harder.
Meanwhile, a series of legislators and deputations called on the Chief Minister and raised developmental and public welfare issues. Legislators from Gurez, Samba, Lolab and Bani highlighted constituency-specific concerns, while a deputation from Chishoti–Paddar in Kishtwar raised issues related to rehabilitation of cloudburst-affected families.
Representatives of private power companies also discussed matters concerning independent power producers in the Union Territory.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to all delegations and assured timely examination and redressal of genuine grievances.
The day’s engagements collectively underscored the government’s focus on healthcare strengthening, tourism promotion, education achievements, and responsive governance.
