Sopore, May 16:Security agencies on Saturday launched a series of search operations at different places in Sopore as part of an investigation linked to the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).
Officials said the action was carried out in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Police Station Sopore. The case, identified as FIR No. 42/2025, has been filed under Sections 10 and 13 of the Act.
Police teams conducted searches at several areas of the police district, including Jamia Qadeem, Naseem Bagh, Krankshivan, Tarzoo, Amargarh, Warpora, Bomai and Boitingoo, along with a number of other locations.
Sources said the searches were undertaken after obtaining legal authorization from the designated UAPA court. Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses were present during the operations to ensure adherence to laid-down procedures.
During the raids, officials reportedly seized certain documents and materials believed to have links with the banned outfit. The recovered items have been taken for scrutiny and further investigation.
Police officials stated that the operation forms part of the ongoing campaign against unlawful and anti-national activities in the region. They added that efforts are continuing to trace individuals allegedly associated with proscribed organisations.
The investigation in the case remains in progress.
