SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has sought the early completion and handover of six transit accommodations being constructed for employees belonging to the PM Package category, saying the facilities are at an advanced stage of completion.

In a communication addressed to the Principal Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRR&R), the Divisional Commissioner said the six transit accommodations had reached an advanced stage and requested that the matter be taken up with the executing agencies for their early completion.

According to the communication, the six transit accommodations are located at Zewan in Srinagar, Kulanambagh in Kupwara, Kaknamaran in Budgam, Lethpora in Pulwama, Machbawan in Anantnag and Chowgam in Kulgam.

The Divisional Commissioner said a detailed review regarding the deployment of security personnel had already been undertaken in coordination with the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, and adequate manpower had been identified for deployment as and when possession of the accommodations is handed over to eligible allottees by the Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M).

The communication also notes that PM Package employees have been repeatedly approaching the Divisional Commissioner’s office seeking early possession of their allotted flats, citing the prevailing situation.

It further states that some employees belonging to the PM Package category staged a protest on September 9 at Press Club Pratap Park, Srinagar, highlighting the issue.

The Divisional Commissioner has accordingly requested the department to take up the matter with the executing agencies to ensure early completion of the six transit accommodations and their handover to the Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), so that the long-pending grievance of PM Package employees can be addressed.

The communication has also been endorsed to the IGP Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kupwara, Budgam, Srinagar and Kulgam, and the Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner, Migrants, Jammu/Srinagar..
