Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has introduced new guidelines for reimbursing trap money seized in corruption-related cases by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), J&K.
The decision, issued under Government Order No. 425-JK (GAD) of 2025, aims to ensure a fair and transparent process for complainants who assist in trapping corrupt officials.
As per the order, the reimbursement will only be made after a thorough verification process. Complainants seeking compensation must submit a written request to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of ACB, J&K.
The final approval will be granted by the Director of ACB, J&K, along with an undertaking from the complainant to safeguard the government’s right to recover the money if required by the court.
The government has stated that the reimbursement will be considered only after two months from the date of the trap or once charges are framed against the accused, whichever happens earlier. The order also emphasizes that the integrity of the evidence must be maintained throughout the process. The trap money reimbursement will be funded under the designated budget head for witness expenses.
The new guidelines have been issued with the concurrence of the Finance Department and the Department of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs.
