Jammu: The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Reservation Rules convened a crucial meeting today, chaired by Sakeena Itoo, the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education. The session was held to review and address the concerns raised by various aspirants and students regarding the current reservation policy.
Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmad Rana, along with senior officials, participated in the meeting. Key attendees included Commissioner Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, Sanjeev Verma, Secretary of Law, Achal Sethi, and representatives from the General Administration Department.
The Sub-Committee took time to carefully examine the grievances presented by students and aspirants from different sections of society, especially concerning the existing reservation rules. Various aspects of the current policy were discussed, with a focus on understanding the challenges faced by the affected individuals and evaluating possible solutions.
Notably, the Cabinet Sub-Committee was formed last month by the government to review the issues highlighted by multiple groups who expressed dissatisfaction with the present reservation framework. The Committee’s objective is to ensure that the policy is fair, transparent, and aligned with the needs of all stakeholders.
Following today’s discussions, the Sub-Committee will compile its findings and recommendations into a report, which will be submitted to the Council of Ministers, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, for further consideration and possible revisions to the reservation rules.
