Srinagar, Apr 10: Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo on Friday said that fencing of the Alikadal Bridge and both old and new Zainakadal Bridge was carried out following a long-standing demand from residents of Sher-e-Khaas to enhance public safety.
He said the administration conducted a joint spot assessment with the concerned departments after receiving repeated requests from locals, and work on installing safety fencing is progressing at a steady pace. The Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that the remaining work will be completed soon.
He further stated that improving road conditions in various parts of the city was also a key demand of residents, and repair works across important areas are currently underway. The administration remains committed to ensuring that all major infrastructure works are completed in a coordinated manner at the earliest.
“Public safety remains our priority, and the ongoing works are aimed at providing safer infrastructure for citizens,” the Deputy Commissioner added.
