MARCH 27: In a significant development towards rail connectivity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first train from Katra to Baramulla on April 19.
The aim of rail connectivity from Kanyakumari to Kashmir will soon be accomplished with the launch of this train. The much-awaited project was the need of people since several decades.
It is learnt that PM Narendra Modi will flag off the train from Katra in the august presence of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw; Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh; J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
As per the reports, inaugural date of train is set in April when the tourist footfall is at peak in Kashmir valley, it is believed to surpass all the tourist records in 2025. Also, since expansion work of Jammu railway station is in full swing, it is said that the train will also halt in Jammu from July and August.
