Pulwama, May 23: A doctor posted at the District Hospital in Pulwama was injured after he was allegedly attacked by a patient’s attendant inside the hospital premises, officials said.
The incident occurred in the hospital’s OPD section, where Dr Omar Khan was attending patients. According to officials, the doctor had already continued working for an extra hour beyond his scheduled duty time.
Officials said the attendant became angry after Dr Khan advised him to consult another doctor who was on duty for the patient’s examination. During the argument, the attendant allegedly picked up a bench and struck the doctor on the forehead.
Dr Khan suffered injuries that required eight stitches, while a security guard trying to control the situation was also hurt during the scuffle, officials added.
