Srinagar, May 29: Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Friday visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara sector to review the operational preparedness of troops and assess the effectiveness of the anti-infiltration grid in north Kashmir.
According to the Army’s Northern Command, the visit focused on evaluating the security architecture and readiness of units deployed along the LoC amid continued attempts by terrorists to infiltrate from across the border.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma reviewed the operational capabilities of troops stationed in the sector and was briefed on the prevailing security situation and counter-infiltration measures being implemented on the ground.
The Army Commander also witnessed demonstrations of advanced technological innovations integrated into field operations, particularly the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) in combat and surveillance roles.
Officials said the Army has been increasingly integrating drone technology and counter-drone mechanisms with operational techniques, training and procedures to strengthen surveillance and enhance combat effectiveness along the LoC.
The Northern Command said the Army Commander appreciated the troops for their “battle-hardened resilience, indomitable courage and relentless commitment to duty” while operating in difficult terrain and challenging conditions.
Lt Gen Sharma also stressed the need for continuous improvement in battle drills, tactical skills and technical expertise to ensure troops remain mentally robust, technologically equipped and operationally agile.
The visit comes amid heightened security focus along the LoC and intensified anti-terror operations in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
