Police team attacked

Srinagar: Suspected terrorists hurled a grenade towards a police team in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday, but it exploded without causing any damage, officials said.
Moreover, in another incident, Security forces arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant alongwith arms and ammunition in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
"Terrorists lobbed a grenade on a police patrol party at Drusoo in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district at around 5.00 pm," they said.
They said the grenade landed on the roadside and exploded without causing any damage.
In Pulwama district they said that that following specific information about presence of militants, a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by police, 50 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 185 battalion of CRPF in the wee hours on Wednesday at Shar Shali Khrew in Pulwama.
“During the search operation, the joint team observed some suspicious movement in the Orchard area which was under cordon,” they said.
They said a suspicious person was trying to escape but alert troops over empowered and apprehended him. “The accused was later identified Sahil Manzoor Mir, an active HM militant,” they said.
They said incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from his possession. “Police has registered a case and the accused is being questioned,” they added.
