Jammu: Police have registered a case following a brutal assault incident that took place during a marriage-related function in the Jhiri area of Kanachak, Jammu on the night of October 25, 2025.
As per the report lodged by Shiv Sharma, S/o Bansi Lal Sharma, R/o Marh, Tehsil Marh, Jammu, he attended a cocktail function organized by his friend Vishal Singh at his residence at Hari Singh Garath, Jhiri. The event was peaceful until around 10:45 PM, when two persons — Nana and Joga — allegedly launched an unprovoked and violent assault on him using a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting multiple injuries on his head, back, and limbs.
The complainant further stated that during the attack, Gagan, Dishu Chib, Harsh Chib, Ashu Chib, Rishu Jamwal, and others also joined in, assaulting him with wooden sticks, chairs, and blunt objects, causing serious injuries. It has also been alleged that Nana, Joga, and Gagan brandished a pistol, and Nana struck the complainant on the ear with the weapon’s butt, further aggravating his injuries.
The victim was first taken to Marh Hospital and later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for advanced treatment, where doctors advised neurosurgical consultation due to head trauma.
The complainant has also alleged that the accused Nana is a habitual offender with prior criminal cases registered against him, and that the assault was part of a premeditated criminal conspiracy.
In this connection, FIR No. 151/2025 has been registered at Police Station Kanachak under Sections 109/115(2)/351(2)/191(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3/4/25 of the Arms Act.
