Anantnag, Apr 25: Police on Saturday carried out coordinated narco cordon-and-search operations (CASOs) at around 20 identified hotspot locations across Anantnag district, targeting networks suspected of involvement in drug trafficking.
Officials said several police teams conducted searches at the residences of alleged drug peddlers and key operatives as part of an intensified drive against the illegal narcotics trade.
The operations were supported by police K9 units, which were deployed to help detect hidden contraband during the searches, authorities added.
Meanwhile, officials said that surveys of properties believed to have been acquired through unlawful proceeds have also been initiated. Necessary steps are being prepared to attach such assets under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of the ongoing crackdown.
