Jammu: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Jammu and Kashmir observed a wave of celebrations, welfare initiatives, and public participation across the region.
Leaders from various parties extended their greetings, while the BJP organised extensive blood donation drives and community events, including at the iconic Laal Chowk.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah greeted PM Modi, praising his leadership and contributions to the nation.
LG Sinha said, “PM Modi’s dedication over the last 10-11 years has brought a huge transformation to the country. From Modi’s birthday to Gandhi ji’s birth anniversary, the whole nation is observing ‘Sewa Parv’ with enthusiasm, and Jammu and Kashmir is participating wholeheartedly.”
CM Omar Abdullah wished the prime minister good health and long life in service of the nation through a post on X, saying, “Wishing the Hon PM @narendramodi Sb a very happy 75th birthday. May he be blessed with good health & a long life in the service of our nation & all its citizens.”
As part of the celebrations, the BJP’s Kashmir unit, led by general secretary Ashok Koul, organised blood donation camps in all nine districts of the valley. The campaign drew an overwhelming response, with over 600 units of blood collected. Srinagar contributed 80 units, followed by 30 units in Ganderbal, 53 in Budgam, 20 in Pulwama, 42 in Shopian, 20 in Kulgam, 80 in Anantnag, 50 in Baramulla, and 48 in Bandipora. Special drives by BJP’s Yuva Morcha and minority morcha added 38 and nearly 150 units respectively.
Alongside these drives, community gatherings and events were held at Laal Chowk, further reinforcing the spirit of unity and service among citizens. The events at Laal Chowk drew large crowds, with many coming together to mark the day with blood donations, cleanliness drives, and welfare initiatives.
