Jammu, Aug 28: A sanitation worker at District Hospital Kishtwar has been dismissed after his arrest in connection with the alleged rape and death of a 15-year-old tribal girl.
The daily-wage sweeper was arrested over allegations of helping conceal the sexual assault and an attempt to terminate the minor’s pregnancy.
Medical Superintendent Yudhveer Singh Kotwal said the worker was dismissed with immediate effect after police informed the hospital about his arrest. He clarified that the action was a dismissal, not a suspension.
Police said the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted repeatedly by a teacher, resulting in her pregnancy. She later died after an alleged attempt to terminate the pregnancy in Chatroo.
The teacher, his brother and three others, including the sanitation worker, have been arrested. A Special Investigation Team is probing the case.
