Jammu: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has introduced new parking regulations to address the persistent traffic congestion caused by haphazard vehicle parking on Apsara Road, Gandhi Nagar.
As part of its ongoing efforts, the JMC has already installed one-way signboards to streamline traffic flow.
To further alleviate the problem, vehicles are now strictly prohibited from parking on the left side of the road leading towards Last Morh, Gandhi Nagar. Parking will only be allowed on the right side of the road, within the designated yellow line.
Additionally, entry of vehicles from Shastri Nagar and adjoining roads onto Apsara Road in the direction of Gole Market has been restricted.
To accommodate shopkeepers in the area, the JMC has made specific parking arrangements. Two-wheelers are to be parked in the roadside area adjacent to Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, while four-wheelers must be parked at the nearby parking space provided by the J&K Housing Board.
JMC Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav (IAS), has warned that strict action will be taken against violators under the Jammu Municipal Act, 2000. These regulations, effective immediately, aim to restore order and ensure a smooth flow of traffic on Apsara Road.
The public is urged to adhere to these guidelines to support the city’s efforts in managing traffic and improving urban mobility.
