Lawmakers in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly have urged the Central Government to announce a special flood relief package to support recovery efforts in regions severely affected by recent flash floods and landslides.
During the Assembly’s autumn session, legislators from both ruling and opposition parties highlighted the extensive damage to agriculture, infrastructure, and housing across multiple districts. They emphasized the urgent need for financial assistance to rebuild roads, restore irrigation channels, and compensate affected families.
Immediate release of funds for emergency rehabilitation and compensation,
Special status for flood-hit areas to expedite relief measures,
Central technical teams to assess damage and guide reconstruction efforts.
The House passed a resolution requesting the Centre to treat the situation as a national calamity and extend support similar to packages granted to other disaster-hit states. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department is expected to submit a detailed damage report to the Ministry of Home Affairs within the week.
