The Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed four key bills aimed at modernizing and streamlining the Union Territory’s legal framework. The legislation covers reforms in governance, public accountability, and administrative efficiency.
The bills were introduced during the ongoing autumn session and received broad support across party lines. Lawmakers emphasized the importance of updating outdated laws to reflect contemporary needs and improve service delivery.
- The J&K Public Services Reform Bill, 2025 – Enhances transparency and timelines in government service delivery.
- The J&K Accountability and Grievance Redressal Bill, 2025 – Establishes a robust mechanism for citizen complaints and administrative oversight.
- The J&K Land Records Modernization Bill, 2025 – Digitizes land records and simplifies mutation procedures.
- The J&K Municipal Governance Amendment Bill, 2025 – Strengthens urban local bodies and decentralizes decision-making.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather praised the Assembly’s collaborative spirit and called the passage of these bills a “significant step toward responsive and responsible governance.”
The bills will now be forwarded to the Lieutenant Governor for assent before being enacted into law.
