JAMMU, JULY 12: Amid religious gaiety and spiritual serenity, the 11th batch of 6,639 pilgrims set out from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Saturday for holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
The chants and hymns of devotees marked the religious fervour and profound faith in the ‘Baba Barfani’ for whom they began this spiritual journey on July 3.
It is learnt that the pilgrims left for the twin base camps of 46-km trek of Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district and 14-km shorter trek Baltal in Ganderbal in two separate convoys under the heightened security cover.
While 4,302 pilgrims are heading for Pahalgam base camp in a convoy of 159 vehicles, 2,337 pilgrims onboard 116 vehicles have preferred the Baltal route, the officials said.
The 38-day-long pilgrimage was flagged off by LG Manoj Sinha on July 2 in Jammu and will culminate on August 9, 2025.
More than 1.65 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Shivlingam of Amarnath Shrine.
