APRIL 8: J&K Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Waqf Amendment Bill said that he is not supporting anyone and working with responsibility and conscience devoid of any fear or favour.
“I am not pro to anyone and I am working as per the norms without any fear or favour,” said Speaker Rather.
On adjournment motion, Rather added, “It was brought up, notice for it was given in the House. We examined it and concluded that it is not in accordance with the rules…If a matter is sub judice that is, under consideration by any court in the country, it cannot be admitted or brought in the House. The matter regarding the Waqf Amendment Act is currently sub judice in the Supreme Court.”
Pertinent to mention, the ruckus in the house was witnessed on the second consecutive day over the Waqf Amendment Bill with NC MLAs demanding discussion on the bill and Speaker disallowing the adjournment motion.
